Mission

The mission and goal of the Dance Ministry of First Baptist Church Amsterdam is to exalt, praise and worship the Lord Jesus Christ through dance.

What is our dance ministry about? Well first, it is not entertainment, nor a performance, nor is it to show off or to draw attention to self. It is liturgical — meaning dance that is acceptable for public worship as opposed to dance that is not. It is a physical way of worshipping and glorifying the Lord which bring others into His presence.

 

It is an outward expression of the joy He has placed in our hearts and is reflective of our relationship with Him. It is developed by the Holy Spirit. It communicates glory and honor to the One who is worthy and He in turn uses it to communicate, edify, comfort, deliver, bless and encourage the body of Christ. It can consist of one or a group of people regardless of age or gender.

 

Lastly, the Bible tells us to praise Him in the dance, (Psalm 149:3, and Psalm 150:4), so it is also obedience!
