First Baptist Church Amsterdam-Cloverdale
There is no such thing as a healthy church without strong male leadership. At FBCA, we recognize this biblical fact, and we strive to grow and train men to lead in some specific areas.
First, we want each man in our church to have a passionate, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ. This is the centerpiece and without a private devotion to the Lord, no man can fulfill his other God-given duties. We want to grow men who seek the Lord first. (John 17:3)
Second, we want each married man in our church to be living out the gospel as a godly husband. This involves understanding and sacrificial love. (Eph. 5:25; 1 Pet. 3:7)
Third, we want each father in our church to lead his family and parent his children toward understanding, embracing, and living out the gospel. (Eph. 6:4)
Fourth, we want our men to learn how to lead others in the body of Christ outside of their own family to a closer knowledge of Christ. We emphasize a Titus 2 model of older men discipling younger. (Titus 2:1-8)
Finally, we want our men to live out the gospel in their interaction with the world. This involves teaching them how to work hard for Christ with integrity, compassion, and a mindset intentionally geared toward seeing others come to Christ. (Phil 2:14-16)
